What is Workers Compensation Insurance?
Every state in the United States has a Workers Compensation (WC) law. At the same time, every state WC law differs in some respects from those of other states. The basic idea behind all WC laws are: employees are compensated for occupational injuries, regardless of fault, in return for which employers are immunized from injury lawsuits by employees.
In the State of Florida WC is governed by the Florida Workers Compensation Law (Chapter 440, Florida Statutes).
There are significant penalties for employers who are required to carry WC benefits for employees but fail to do so.
There are three categories of benefits under the Florida WC Law: Compensation (Benefits), Medical Expenses, and Disability Benefits.
